I was always told as I was growing up that I had my Dad’s bad teeth. So, guess what? Every dental check up I had cavities, not just one or two either. The fewest I remember having at a single appointment was eleven!
When I moved away from home, I decided that I did not have to live with what everyone ‘said’ my story was. I chose to create my own. Of course, I brushed and flossed, ate well and exercised. Also I chose to think how healthy my teeth and gums are.
Now I realize that just repeating affirmations doesn’t always produce positive results. You have to align your energy with your thoughts and truly believe what you’re telling yourself. Every time I looked in the mirror, I smiled and saw my healthy mouth.
So then, guess what? I hadn’t been to a dentist in 15 years and a friend asked if I would be his patient for a teeth cleaning for his dental boards in San Francisco. I went, was examined and they turned me down because I did not have enough plaque! My friend convinced them to let him clean two quadrants of my teeth instead of just one and they agreed. Once my friend passed his boards, he gave me a full check up and told me I did not have a single cavity!
Listen carefully to what you tell yourself about your body. Do you say ‘I’m so fat’, ‘I have a bad back’, ‘I have bad knees’, whatever it is. You are reinforcing the story. Is that the reality you want? You can choose to change your story about yourself. Replace the negative thought with a positive one. Then get busy and back it up with your actions!
