  • Meditate for your body!

    November 3, 2014
  • Sit comfortably. You can be in a chair, in your bed, on the floor with your back against a wall, or on the floor with your legs crossed or straight out in front of you. Where ever you are, lift through your spine and soften your shoulder blades down your back. Place your hands on your belly and close your eyes. Now just notice as you breathe in that your belly pushes your hands away and as you breathe out that your hands are drawn back in toward your spine. See how far your hands move through each breath without straining. Now observe what you’re thinking…. ‘This is silly’, ‘I’m hungry’, ‘My neck hurts’, ‘Oh, I better not forget to…whatever’. Bring your awareness back to your hands on your belly and the movement with each breath. If you find yourself thinking about anything else again, don’t get frustrated; just gently bring your awareness back to your hands on your belly and the movement with each breath. You can set a timer if you like. Start with 2 to 5 minutes. You might find you’re comfortable with sitting for a longer time right from the start. However long you ‘sit’ is just perfect. When you are finished, take a moment to notice how your body feels. Are you more relaxed? Did that pain in your neck go away? Enjoy this new space you created.
